How it works

  1. 1 · Set a budget Pick a spending limit and the apps or categories Finx may lock after it processes transaction data showing you are over budget.
  2. 2 · Link a bank (optional, Finx Plus) Connect an account through Plaid so Finx tracks spending automatically and can lock your apps after it processes transactions that put you over your limit. Bank data is not real-time and may be delayed or revised.
  3. 3 · Stay in check If a lock is applied, your chosen apps stay locked until the budget resets — or until you use an emergency override.

Rules that hold themselves

An optional subscription. The manual loop — one budget, chosen apps, confirm overspend yourself — stays free.

  • Bank automation Synced transactions can update budgets for you. Bank data is not real-time and may be delayed or revised.
  • Threshold rules A warning before the limit, and a lock at the percentage you choose.
  • Strict mode Locks that carry across resets until you deliberately pause them. Emergency override still works.
  • Custom timing Monthly or custom-day periods, and lock lengths on your terms.
